Who we are
Sano's co-founders, Patrick Short, Will Jones, and Charlotte Guzzo, met while working on their PhDs at the University of Cambridge. Having experienced both sides of medical research—as research participants and researchers—they felt there was enormous potential to improve the process and make participating in research rewarding and easy. Sano was founded on the belief that contributing to research should be engaging, supportive, and meaningful for participants. Our diverse team combines years of expertise in medical research, genetics, and security-focused software engineering to deliver on this mission.

Patrick Short
CEO
Experienced in genomics research with a focus on large-scale genome sequencing projects and rare disorders. Previously at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the University of Cambridge.
Charlotte Guzzo
COO
Experienced in single-cell genomics research, studying childhood cancer. Previously at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, the University of Cambridge and JPMorgan.
William Jones
CTO
Computer scientist previously working on deep learning and genetics at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the University of Cambridge.
